MailGate Support Issues

Q. Can I move my MailGate installation from one machine to another?
A. This is possible with the backup and restore feature available in version 3.3+.

Backup and restore your settings
The MailGate backup file contains all settings including your license key.
  1. Backup the configuration within MailGate by clicking on Gateway | Backup Configuration, and save the backup file to disk.

  2. Install MailGate on the other machine, transfer the backup file to that machine, then click on Gateway | Restore Configuration and open the backup file.
Restoring other components
If you wish to backup the contents of any mailboxes, you'll need to copy the contents of the "C:\Program Files\Mailgate\mailbox" directory to the same directory on the other machine.

If you've made any custom proxy scripts then you'll need to copy the contents of the "C:\Program Files\Mailgate\Scripts" directory to the same directory on the other machine.

If you use any MailGate extensions, such as Mail Manager, List Server and/or Spam Filter, go to "C:\Program Files\Mailgate" and copy the contents of their directories ("mailmgr", "list" and "spamfltr", respectively) to the new machine.
